Check out these photos of our Creative Monday crew working hard!
We had a great time getting together on our Monday afternoons. We started with some colour theory and did a painting exercise designed to help us mix paint and understand colour value. Each "cell" that we painted contained three different values of the same colour. Students learned pretty quickly not to add too much black or their colour was taken over.
Our second project was a lesson on drawing with a pastel medium. Students used their skills with shading and blending to create their bird images. Background colour was done with shades of blue, green and yellow tempera paint.
I think our final project was definitely the favourite! I couldn't be more proud of how diligently all these kids worked to complete their projects. It was very fun to share in their excitement as their images took shape. This time, students worked with acrylic paints on canvas. All their work with colour mixing, and use of light and shadow came to play. Well done, everyone!
